This is a comprehensive occupational therapy program designed by UNITING Allied Health specifically for people living with Parkinson’s and their carers.
M. Occupational Therapy
This group-based virtual program delivers 10 education sessions, conducted in one hour sessions each week over three months, and encourages participation in at least four of the five additional supplementary virtual wellness groups during the three months.
An integral part of the person-centred education program are self-evaluation forms that highlight individual areas of concern to the occupational therapist. These are addressed in a home visit.
The virtual sessions are conducted via Microsoft Teams video conferencing. To participate, a person needs access to a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone, which must be able to access the internet. The device needs to have a camera and microphone and should be mounted on a stable stand. If the participant requires assistance in the set up of this equipment they should make this known before the program starts. In most cases, family members are able to assist.
All virtual education sessions will be conducted and led by a qualified occupational therapist.
All virtual wellness sessions will be facilitated by facilitators who have a working knowledge of Parkinson’s.
Groups are intended to be small to encourage participation and sharing of ideas and knowledge
