08/06/2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

As part of the WellBEING Seminar series for carers and support persons, Parkinson’s ACT OT is facilitating an information session on:
Respite Care – Looking at respite care from different perspectives
Respite is taking a break so you can do your best caring for as long as possible. This seminar will talk about the numerous ways in which you can access and utilise the wide variety of respite care available in the ACT.
Sharon Scott will delve deeply into the reality of respite care, including eligibility and access to respite care, and answer your questions about how to choose respite care to meet your loved one’s needs.
Julie Elliott will tell us about Leo’s Place in Braddon, an Australian-first initiative to provide ‘home away from home’ respite care in the ACT, available for an afternoon or for up to 7 days, for your loved one, for both of you, or anyone supporting your loved one. Read more about this non-medical respite at Leo’s Place here https://www.leosplace.org.au/
Michael Robbins will give his personal account of the value of breaks, of an hour, day or week, at home, or away from home, when you care for someone living with Parkinson’s.
Guest Speakers: Sharon Scott, Julie Elliott and Michael Robbins
Presentations end by 11.30am, morning tea and casual discussion to follow until 12pm+
