Session 3: The importance of good manual handling
27/04/2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

As part of the WellBEING Seminar series for carers and support persons, Parkinson’s ACT OT is facilitating an information session on:
The importance of good manual handling.
Parkinson’s affects people in different ways, and it is likely that you may need to physically help someone by lifting, lowering, carrying, moving, pushing, or by pulling. cIt’s important to keep yourself safe when you do these physical manual handling tasks, so that you can remain healthy and avoid injury. Various safe manual handling techniques will be discussed at this seminar, and a variety of assistive technology aids will be demonstrated, focussing on beds, wheelchairs and transfer aids. Learn how to keep yourself and the person you care for safe and injury free.
Guest Speaker: Ruth Palavestra, Occupational Therapist
Presentation ends by 11am, morning tea and casual discussion to follow until 12pm
