Painting with Parkinsons – Southside

10/08/2021 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 9:30 am on Tuesday, repeating until 03/12/2021

This innovative art therapy program is designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s and has been running continuously at the Botanic Gardens since 1994 and is now offered Southside.  There is no requirement to be proficient in art and rather than being taught or directed, the unique methodology supports participants to become absorbed in their own work which results in beautiful, individual artworks.

Sessions may include music, poetry, literary readings, meditation and gentle exercises to warm up prior to painting.  Classical, instrumental or meditative music is played in the background to enhance the creative process, often described as ‘flow’.  All materials are provided.

Please note that there may be a waiting list to join this group – contact Ian Bignall to enquire about joining:  ianjbignall@gmail.

$10 contribution per session
